Walkable, connected, and accessible neighborhoods are becoming a key goal for cities worldwide. But making the 15-minute city concept work in low-density suburban areas, where services are spread out, and public transport is limited, remains a challenge. Over the past three years, the DREAMS project has explored this question across six European cities (Budapest, Brussels, Munich region, Paris, Utrecht, and Vienna). As the project comes to a close, DREAMS is bringing its findings to Munich and inviting researchers, city representatives, practitioners, and local stakeholders to join the conversation. On 21 October, we will host a symposium to present lessons learned and practical experiences, and to discuss how to create more inclusive and accessible neighborhoods. On 22 October, our training day will offer hands-on experience with the tools, methods, and business models developed through the project. Participants will gain practical knowledge, exchange ideas with experts and peers, and explore approaches tested across six urban contexts. We hope you will join us! This Knowledge Hub Webinar explores new ways of understanding and measuring accessibility and proximity in today’s evolving urban and social contexts. It brings together experts sharing innovative analytical methods and participatory approaches that challenge traditional metrics. Four research cohorts will present their findings, each offering a unique perspective on accessibility and social justice. Participants will learn how large-scale digital Public Participation GIS (PPGIS) can uncover disparities in accessibility and proximity. In addition, the session will highlight the photovoice method, capturing everyday experiences through participatory media. Experts from DUT projects will rethink accessibility by shifting the focus from simply being “close to” resources toward what is “fair for” communities. In additon, the webinar will examine perceived accessibility and justice, introducing new metrics relevant to shared mobility studies. By combining data-driven insights with lived experiences, the event aims to provide a more holistic view of accessibility. Exciting news! We are pleased to announce that the final event of the SMALL project will take place on 16 September 2026, in Ghent. Titled 'Advancing shared mobility with no one left behind', this closing conference will bring together partners, stakeholders and practitioners from across the North Sea Region to reflect on the project’s achievements and explore how inclusive shared mobility can move forward beyond SMALL. Co-funded by the Interreg North Sea Programme, SMALL has worked to make shared mobility more accessible for people with reduced mobility (PRMs). The final event will be an opportunity to showcase results, exchange experiences from the pilots, and discuss long-term implementation and policy uptake. Do you want to join? Express your interest!
