15mC concept: Superblock/ Supermanzana/ Superilla

 Barcelona’s Superblocks modify road networks within 400 square metre blocks to improve the availability and quality of public space for leisure and community activities, as well as for pedestrians and cyclists. The Superblock approach is gradually transforming streets and street life, bringing social, economic and environmental benefits.

The initiative was first introduced in the city's 2013 - 2018 Urban Mobility Plan, with the goal of reducing private vehicles and moving towards sustainable mobility. The city still remains committed to the goal of creating 503 superblocks in its most recent 2024 Urban Mobility Plan.
